WHAT IS FIBREGUM™ ?

Droplets of Acacia gum FIBREGUM™ is a bioactive soluble fibre developed by CNI. FIBREGUM™ permits to develop innovative functional foods with nutritional as well as health claims.

FIBREGUM™ is a genuine product obtained from selected acacia gum, GMO-free, 100% of vegetable origin. FIBREGUM™ is delivered in the form of white powder, which turns it into a very soluble substance.

FIBREGUM™ draws nutritional properties come from its high content in vegetable polysaccharides, associated with other substances such as proteins and polyphenols.

Thanks to the careful selection of Acacia gums, FIBREGUM™ provides an exceptionnal soluble fibre content, up to 90% on dry matter.

Moreover FIBREGUM™ polysaccharides are slowly fermented in the gut, where they fuel selectively the beneficial flora, with proven effects from 10g/day.

WHY SHOULD YOU USE FIBREGUM™ ?

Specially designed to be an health-oriented ingredient, FIBREGUM™ reveals all the advantages and applications of acacia gum and a lot more:
  • FIBREGUM™ with a guaranteed dietary soluble fibre content (more than 90% on dry basis as dosed by the AOAC 985.29 method) is a highly suitable product for fibre_fortification and nutritional claims .
  • FIBREGUM™ is a fibre showing remarkable properties to modulate the beneficial intestinal flora , proven by more than 80 scientific papers.
  • FIBREGUM™ is completely natural and vegetable. It is GMO free, with no chemical or enzymatic modification and is consequently of great interest for human nutrition.
  • FIBREGUM™ improves digestion and acts on gut comfort as a regulator. The total gas production is limited and very progressive, and it does not exhibit laxative side-effects.
  • Because of its resistance to digestion by human enzymes, FIBREGUM has a very_low_energy_value (<2kcal/gram). Furthermore, FIBREGUM™ is non_cariogenic and fits well for ”safe for teeth” products and confectionery.
  • FIBREGUM™ is extremely resistant to acidic conditions and keeps its properties either in beverages or fruit preparations.
WHAT IS A DIETARY FIBRE?

Dietary fibre is a general term covering a wide variety of substances, which are not digested in the upper part of the human digestive tract. These substances (cellulose, hemicelluloses, pectin, gums...) belong to the family of plant polysaccharides, which constitute the cell wall or cytoplasmic reserves of plants. Moreover, they promote at least one of the following physiological effects:
  • Improvement of laxation
  • Stimulation of colonic fermentation
  • Reduction of fasted serum cholesterol
  • Decrease of postprandial blood glucose and/or insulin

The fibre intake has been associated with:

  • Improved bowel functioning and a reduced colorectal risk
  • A reduced obesity risk
  • A reduced risk of diabetes
  • A reduced risk of coronary heart disease

Dietary fibres are systematically taken into account in nutritional guidelines. The recommended daily fibre consumption for adults is around 25 to 30 g/day with a soluble fibre dose of 10 to 15 g/day .

In industrialized countries, mean fibre intake is estimated to be approximately 10 to 20 g/day, which is far below the recommended goal . This is why many health organizations have recommended increasing the fibre intake by 50 %.
